Hello, Little Hillions,
Happy Spooky Season, y’all!
I’m going to be honest when I tell you that I’m actually not a spooky season kind of gal. While I write dark and tend to lean toward the horror side of things, Halloween is my least favorite end of the year holiday… (insert your gasp here)
However, that doesn’t mean that I don’t support all of you who love a good Ghostface moment or are ready to sink your teeth into a good vampire book (I think I know one that we’ll get to later). I’m here for it.
I have my fall decor on my porch and will have a bowl of candy for that fateful night, ready to hand it out to all my friends’ kids who stop by.
I’m more of a twinkling light, red bows, and hot cocoa kind of gal. Hence, Krampus.
But I hope you’re all kicking off your season with visits to the pumpkin patch and apple cider slushies, maybe a haunted maze or two.
As the ghosts who haunt my parents’ house would say: BOO!
SCRUB ME, DADDY BY APRIL SHOWERS
Y’all, I did a secret thing that has had me kicking my feet!
I joined the ranks of sentient object romances with my alter ego, April Showers, and wrote some smiley face sponge smut that may be loosely based on the scrubbiest sponge father on the market. ;)
BLURB:
My entire life is a mess.
My ex cheated. My job sucks. And my apartment smells like old takeout and despair.
Enter: a 3 A.M. infomercial promising the Scrubbie Dubbie will change my life.
Desperate and half-delirious, I order it.
The next day, a sponge arrives—hot pink, dual-textured, and paired with a cleaning liquid that smells suspiciously like seduction. Then things get... weird. And wet.
One steamy scrub-down later, I slip, hit my head, and wake up to a six-foot-something alien Adonis with abs for days and an obsession with cleaning. And with me.
He’s strong, sudsy, and ready to polish more than just my floors.
He came to tidy my apartment—and he just might stay to deep-clean my soul.Content Considerations: Scrub Me, Daddy is a sentient object romance that includes a sentient sponge and a human woman. It’s a sweet and spicy story, all in good fun.
A few readers have already sent me their reactions, and I’m simultaneously cackling and crying happy tears. There may or may not be a slutty little crop top situation, and of course, Savon calls Dahlia “little bubble.”
I will warn you that it is the COMPLETE opposite of anything I’ve written thus far (it’s very pink), but it’s super steamy, and I know that you’ll still love it all the same.
If you want a fun, fast, and steamy read, check out Scrub Me, Daddy, on Amazon in ebook, paperback, and Kindle Unlimited.
A LEGION OF BANE & EMBERS RELEASE!
A Legion of Bane & Embers, my MM Vampire/Human dystopian dark romance, is coming NEXT FRIDAY, October 17th!
It has gone through editing, and while I loved the serialized version, I think this one is even better! It’s so angsty and perfect for a spooky fall story with our favorite vampire, demons, and other beings in a dystopian city.
Check out the updated blurb:
A Knight sworn to protect the city from evil. A vampire bound in chains. A desire that could destroy them both.
Atlas
I was trained to kill monsters—
Not crave the one chained beneath my home.As a Knight of Cindervail, I’m everything the Legion demands: disciplined, deadly, untouchable. But on the night of my final trial, it wasn’t the Legion that saved me, but a monster I had sworn to destroy—a vampire. Emilian.
Now he’s leashed and muzzled by the Vail, my illegal asset locked in my basement, only letting him out for missions that need a monster’s teeth. At least, that’s the story we tell.
But the truth is darker. I find myself drawn to him, to his lair beneath my feet—for the heat, the hunger, the sin I can’t stop committing. Our connection is forbidden. Addictive. And when my best friend vanishes and demons begin tearing through Cindervail, I’m forced to face an impossible choice:
Save the city I swore to protect—
Or surrender to the vampire who not only saved my life, but makes me feel alive.Emilian
I wasn’t born a monster. I was made one—and then left to rot.
In Cindervail, vampires like me aren’t given trials; we’re exterminated. I should’ve died the night I found Atlas on the brink of death, the Knight who could have put a blade through my heart, but instead, he let me live.
Now I survive chained beneath his home like a secret sin. Muzzled. Bound. Used as a weapon to fight the city’s nightmares by his side. We pretend it’s duty. But I see the truth in his eyes every time he steps into my domain—the tremor in his hands, the smell of his desire as it fills the air, all kept in the dark.
Cindervail is rotting as the rifts multiply, with demons coming through the cracks in droves. Soon, Atlas will have to choose—To protect the city that made him a weapon, or die by the creature he should have killed.
You can preorder Atlas and Emilian’s story now in ebook, and it will be available in paperback and Kindle Unlimited on release day!
If you loved Cindervail, we will be heading back to it after the conclusion of Mistletoe & Naughty, with a whole new couple, Gwen and Sinclair. Beginning Friday, November 7th, read weekly serialized chapters of A Legion of Aether and Ash.

If you follow me on Threads, you’ll have probably caught a glimpse of my ramblings about a podcast… I am so excited to announce that I will be hosting my new podcast, Read Between the Lines: An Unhinged Bookish Podcast, coming VERY SOON!
I have been lined up for interviews and will have some fun authors, creators, editors, and bookish community members on to yap about anything and everything!
So far, it’s been a wide range of topics, and I’ve been having an absolute blast getting back behind the mic! The whole point of this podcast is not only to discuss bookish topics, but also to give you a glimpse behind the scenes into the life of an indie author, and to remind you that authors are people too. We live very real lives and have deep thoughts and feelings about the industry and the world happening around us.
I’ll be sharing more information about an official drop date, and I truly hope you’ll stay tuned!
xoxo,
KL Hill
